A Story That We Pride Ourselves On

Traditions Passed from Generation to Generation

Stephen Brown and Neil Barrett begun their careers as young apprentices for D&A Barrett, the family-owned building company run by Stephen's Father-In-Law, David Barrett, and Neil's father, Anthony Barrett. The two brothers combined the first letter in each of their names to create the name of the business, and the rest is history.

D&A Barrett built fifty-two new homes in Puddletown and surrounding areas, spanning over fifty years of realising dreams for their customers. The company also constructed many extensions, loft conversions, and refurbishments. They transformed a retired Sawmill into homes, and built other homes surrounding it. "THE SAWMILLS" area was born, where many families currently reside.

The family's home was built in Puddletown, where Tony's wife and Neil's Mother, Hazel Barrett, operated a local Day-Care called 'Hazelnuts', serving the children of Puddletown.

After the retirement of the family business D&A Barrett, Steven and Neil named their business 'Brown and Barrett', continuing the great craftsmanship and reputation passed down from many years of expertise and quality work in Dorset.
